The REAL Green Party

There are numerous wards across Lancaster where the Liberal Democrats and the Green Party will be going head to head; many of you no doubt will find it difficult to choose between the two. We will not dispute that the Green Party are indeed green in their policies, so green in fact that they will sacrifice economic prosperity and social progress in the name of the environment.

The Liberal Democrats fully appreciate the importance of protecting our environment, acting as responsible stewards of our natural resources for future generations. We also understand the awesome threat of global climate change. That is why we preceded other major parties in ensuring our entire manifesto has a clear green thread. That is why we say "no" to nuclear power. That is why we introduced the most radical tax proposals of any party: taxing pollution not people, helping the poorest in society by taxing the most damaging.

But politics is about more than just the green agenda, the Liberal Democrats want a greener Britain but also a safer and fairer Britain. That is why we want more police on the streets instead of wholly unnecessary ID cards and why we want to lower class sizes and scrap tuition fees.

The Green Party may argue one out of three aint bad, but we'd much rather ensure the future of Britain is one of people's prosperity, stronger communities and a greener environment.
